Ella swings lightly
Sad day, dear friends.
it actually happened on Monday, but I have not had the resolve to speak of it yet.
Our dearly beloved, cheese-loving, character filled chook, Ella the ChookZilla has passed on. She had a lovely weekend, with much treats from The Bellamy Garden, and some lovely weather. Then, on Monday morning, she got a special treat of cheese and silverbeet, and some caramelised onion, which she gorged herself on. A lovely day in the Sun, a visit from the Old Bellamys, and then, she lay herself down to have a dustbath, and was never to rise again.
It's sad to see her go, she was the human-chook. The brie-stealer, the kitchen explorer, and she once stood on Jasper, the Invader Chicken From Across The Divide. She was our favourite, our daughter, and now she is no more.
She lays 'tween the potatoes and the Nectarine, marked by a leafless silver Birch Branch, where she will rest eternally.
Always in our hearts and minds, that beautiful first chook, who we always love.
Rest ye well, Ella

I'll just leave you with this, and the knowledge that I'll eat an egg (free range, of course) in remembrance today.
"What do you like to listen to?"
"Why elephants Gerald, of course."
RIP Ella.
