Thursday

booze

well, after an intersting little chat with Mr K about 'people who try' and writers and, mostly, effort, I decided to go up to the local pub (friend to all my friends except Mr K and the lovely Crump) and have a couple of bevvies, and post a pointless post.
thanks for having me over today, Mr K; it was muchos grande good.
And good luck tomorrow, i am sure you will rock arse, like a pirate ship ride at the show

also, go go go go crumpet! woot, and interview happiness on you also.. yeah!

Wednesday

something in the air.

What a week it has been.
The lady milk has some shocking days at work, basically the Manager and Sub-Manager pissing off to get drunk all afternoon, and leaving my Lady to deal with all the problems, and then turning off their phones so she can't call them about problems. Then they crack the shits with her on Monday for her bad attitude, and for me coming in to pick her up. It's all screwed, and, oh, just don't get us started on it, really.

So anywho, the day after the telling-off, the Good Lady Milk says to herself 'screw it, i'm gonna get a different job', and sure enough, she goes to have an interview THAT VERY NIGHT, stays for over an hour (while I wait patiently in the car, reading Larry Ullman's excellent Advanced PHP for the World Wide Web), and comes out with the job. She rocks, totally.

Also, it looks like I have a new job, for at least the next twelve months. The Pathology IT Manager is taking long service leave for 49 weeks, and I will be trying to replace him. I'll be doing more development stuff, lots of systems support, maintaining the pathology website, and being one half of the on-call support for the lab's computer systems. It's all yay, except for the 24 hours support thing. But, you gots to take the good with the not-so-good, eh?

So, there it is.

Friday

Ella swings lightly

Sad day, dear friends.
it actually happened on Monday, but I have not had the resolve to speak of it yet.
Our dearly beloved, cheese-loving, character filled chook, Ella the ChookZilla has passed on. She had a lovely weekend, with much treats from The Bellamy Garden, and some lovely weather. Then, on Monday morning, she got a special treat of cheese and silverbeet, and some caramelised onion, which she gorged herself on. A lovely day in the Sun, a visit from the Old Bellamys, and then, she lay herself down to have a dustbath, and was never to rise again.
It's sad to see her go, she was the human-chook. The brie-stealer, the kitchen explorer, and she once stood on Jasper, the Invader Chicken From Across The Divide. She was our favourite, our daughter, and now she is no more.

She lays 'tween the potatoes and the Nectarine, marked by a leafless silver Birch Branch, where she will rest eternally.

Always in our hearts and minds, that beautiful first chook, who we always love.

Rest ye well, Ella

Tuesday

me vs tech

so, i decided i'd try to set up WordPress on my PC, and see if I can mod it to be a simple, categorised wishlist. Meh. I haven't had the drive or grit to read the Apache Documentation, or the mySQL stuff, so I am screwed. Maybe another day.
Here is an item to add to the list, when it is done.
